A HOUSE IN TWO ACTS (SS17–SS22)

Nina Ricci Archive
Nina Ricci Archive

This archive, spanning SS17 to SS22, which captures Nina Ricci across two distinct creative eras, and reading the difference is half the pleasure.

The early pieces here, from SS17, belong to Guillaume Henry who revived Carven before taking the Ricci helm in 2015. His Nina Ricci woman was, in his own words, strong but not aggressive: grace and bravado in equal measure, capable of feeling seductive one day and armoured the next. Elegance with a spine.

Then, in 2018, a rupture. Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh, the Antwerp-trained duo behind their own acclaimed label. They brought a Caribbean joie de vivre to buttoned-up Parisian codes: sculptural volume, unexpected proportion, a modern sensuality that moved through the old house like fresh air through shuttered rooms. They rewrote its grammar entirely

That is the real value of an archive. Not nostalgia, but the chance to hold a house's evolving thinking in your hands and see precisely where, and why, it decided to turn.
